01

INTRODUCTION

Objective

Design an intuitive EV charging station recommendation interface that simplifies the search for charging options, enhances user experience, and promotes sustainable transportation by encouraging EV adoption.

02

KEY CHALLENGES

Problem Statement

As electric vehicle usage rises, EV drivers face challenges in locating suitable, available charging stations, especially when factoring in real-time data on station availability, power levels, and location preferences. This project’s goal is to build an intelligent, user-friendly platform that simplifies this process, helping EV drivers find compatible stations efficiently while making EV charging accessible and convenient.

03

USER PAIN POINTS

Research & Discovery

To design a user-focused EV charging app, I conducted interviews, surveys, and a competitive analysis. Insights revealed that EV drivers have diverse preferences for station types and locations, value real-time data to avoid wait times, and need seamless navigation that integrates charging stations into their routes. These findings shaped the app's features to address user priorities effectively.

04

SOLUTION

Design Impact

AmpedUP tackles user challenges with a smart recommendation system, seamless navigation, and personalized preferences. Low and high-fidelity wireframes refined the user flows, integrating real-time data and ensuring an intuitive, efficient, and user-centered charging experience.

05

Hierarchical Task Analysis

The Hierarchical Task Analysis (HTA) for the EV charging station recommendation system breaks down user interactions and functions into a structured hierarchy. It identifies core tasks, guiding a user-centric app design. The analysis highlights key functions: user registration, preferences, efficient search, real-time info, progress tracking, payment, navigation, alerts, and feedback. This ensures aligned design, simplifies charging, and offers a user-friendly solution for EV owners to find, access, and use charging stations, enhancing their overall experience.

User Interviews:

User interviews for AmpedUP focused on understanding EV drivers' charging behaviors, preferences, and challenges. The questions explored workflows, frustrations, and decision-making factors, offering critical insights for crafting a user-friendly and efficient charging app. These findings shaped the app's core features, such as real-time station tracking, smart recommendations, and intuitive payment processes.
